Suzy’s career commenced in 1992 at Designers Guild, working as assistant to the creative team under the watchful eye of Tricia Guild. She then went on to work with House & Garden magazine for another of her mentors, Sue Crewe.
In 1996 Suzy joined the existing team of four, pre launch, setting up the Interiors at Wallpaper* magazine. At Wallpaper* Suzy travelled globally in the capacity of Interiors Editor, including forming close relationships within the industry, collating trend reports from the shows, commissioning the various sections within the magazine as well as producing and art directing photo shoots. Special projects included commissioning products for the Wallpaper* e-commerce site, designing a Wallpaper* house for the Salone del Mobile, Milan, art directing the windows at Club Monaco on Fifth Avenue, NYC and designing the Wallpaper* offices in collaboration with Thomas Eriksson architects.
Suzy left Wallpaper* in 2000 and continued to style and art direct for publications including Casa Vogue, US House & Garden, The Saturday Telegraph, The Sunday Times as well as advertising campaigns including Louis Vuitton, Stella Artois, Sony, Colefax and Fowler, Gucci, Conran, Wedgwood and Cassina, Milan. Suzy has also worked on prestigious retail projects such as creative concept and art direction for windows at Selfridges.
In 2000 Suzy set up an interior design consultancy focusing on both residential and commercial projects. In 2004 Suzy designed the interiors of private members’ club The Hospital in Covent Garden. Suzy spent several years working on a vast private residence in Scotland which comprised a series of houses, all differing in style, that Suzy was given a free rein to design. In 2006, Suzy designed a beach side house on the west coast of Barbados.
Recent projects have included the London HQ for Working Title Films, Hoxton Grill for The Soho House Group, a hotel in East London, as well as private homes across the globe. Other commercial projects include designing the carrier bag for a high street fashion brand as well as a roll out design for 98 restaurants throughout the UK.
In 2006 Suzy opened a studio in west London. Two years later saw the worldwide launch of a wallpaper collection for Osborne and Little, a collection of cashmere blankets for Johnstons of Elgin and a rug collection for The Rug Company as well as fabric and furniture.
