Suzy Hoodless established her studio in 2000, since then it’s grown into one of Britain’s most exciting design brands. A regular on House & Garden’s list of the top 100 interior designers, it’s known for characterful, timeless spaces that mix colour and texture, modern and vintage.

The studio creates bespoke interiors that reflect their owners’ personalities, and that feel as if they’ve evolved naturally over time. Well organised, comfortable and functional, they are homes that feel good to live in. Other projects include landmark public spaces and homewares for brands like The Rug Company and Drummonds.

About Suzy Hoodless

Suzy Hoodless describes her interiors as a kind of alchemy: a creative mix of styles and eras, with a bold approach to colour and a touch of the unexpected.

Before setting up her studio, Suzy was part of the founding team of Wallpaper* magazine, acting as Interiors Editor. Art directing shoots gave her an instinct for combining pieces with confidence, and an appreciation of timeless, longlasting design.

Projects are always inspired by the client and the architecture. Suzy likens her work to that of a chef, always experimenting with ingredients to find the magic recipe for every space.

The Team

Our west London studio has a small but highly focused team. Working alongside Suzy are Senior, Midweight and Junior interior designers, a studio manager and finance manager, all of whom collaborate to ensure projects are finished on time and on budget.

Operating on this small scale allows us to maintain close connections with every client and provide an individual, highly personalised service. The studio is always working on a number of projects at any one time, so organisation, efficiency and dedication are second nature to us.

How We Work

1 — Our service is completely bespoke, and no two projects are the same. We pride ourselves on efficient project management and guiding clients through every step of the design process, from concept to finished result. We work alongside leading architects and contractors, lighting and AV consultants and other specialists. We are happy to recommend a full team.

2 — We begin a project by visiting the space and meeting the client. Understanding its architecture and history is important, but even more so are the conversations we have with the client. How we want the space to feel as well as how the space will be used.

3 — We start by developing concept boards, as well as layouts, further developing our understanding of the creative direction and the ergonomics. We think of it as creating the perfect recipe, with the finishes, colours and textures as the key ingredients.

4 — Creating a design concept is a two-way dialogue with the client. It can take time, and it’s normal to go through several different ideas before reaching the perfect version.

5 — We work with a wide network of specialists including craftspeople, upholsterers and manufacturers, who are the best in their fields.

6 — We’ll often visit workshops with clients, a hands on and detail led approach; an experience which the clients find richly rewarding.

7 — Great design reflects a client’s identity, is tailor made and increases efficiency as well as being aesthetically beautiful. We form close relationships with clients and they often come back to us when they need their spaces to evolve as their lifestyles change and families grow.
