A new vision for television centre

A major project to transform the former BBC Television Centre, creating new residents’ spaces and a collection of comfortable, relaxed apartments.
This space served as the first point of welcome for prospective buyers while the Television Centre was being redeveloped. Its identity was threefold: it had to serve as an office for the marketing team, as well as being informal enough to receive visitors, and show them what the finished apartments would look like.

We designed two show apartments for this space – a one-bedroom and a two-bedroom – as well as a ground-floor reception and exhibition area. The latter displayed architects’ models and a selection of historical treasures from the TV centre’s past.

The entire space needed to encapsulate the building’s new identity, so we used the same flooring and furnishings as in the finished project. There was a mix of vintage and modern furniture (including timber designs from Another Country and bespoke seating from George Smith), plus bespoke geometric rugs by specialist maker Vanderhurd. We also brought in lots of prints and plants to add colour and character.
